End of an era

Ed, We wish to advise that as of October 1, 2016 Dragons Abreast Clarence Valley will cease to exist. After much discussion the decision to dissolve the club was taken at a Special Resolution meeting which was held on May 29. When the club was started over 10 years ago there was very little publicity given to raising the awareness of breast cancer. Since that time there has been enormous progress made towards making women aware of the importance of regular checking for breast cancer along with the formation of numerous support services. Times and needs change and for this reason it was decided that the time was right for the club to cease operation here in the Clarence Valley even though Dragons Abreast Australia thrives in other parts of Australia. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us over the years. In particular we would like to acknowledge the support given to us by Penny and the crew at Ferry Park Restaurant, Yamba Marina, Yamba Bowling Club, the Trustees of Florence Armstrong and Daniel Butt. To those who have participated in our activities we hope you enjoyed your time with us and that we have helped you in some way in your journey to recovery. We wish to clarify that Dragons Abreast Clarence Valley is in no way connected with the Clarence Coast Dragon Boat Club of New South Wales which operates as a sporting facility and is not involved in raising breast cancer awareness or fund raising activities.
