Determined ospreys

Ed, Your story last week (CVI 17/8/16) of an osprey regularly being turfed out of home atop a power pole, reminded me of a similar occurrence some years ago in Shores Drive Yamba where we live. A final attempt to rebuild ended rather dramatically when it caused a power outage in our area. Our electricity provider at that time decided that enough was enough and put a pole, complete with a metal nest in the Nature Reserve opposite. The pair of ospreys was quite unimpressed at the beginning, much preferring sticks. Eventually they moved in and produced some offspring and this has continued regularly ever since. Let’s hope the new Marina pair have an equally happy ending. Brian Holley, Yamba
