Participants in Clarence Valley Care and Support Services Green Room Disability Day Program got a fantastic surprise when they were invited to a special Christmas lunch at the CWA hall in Maclean on Wednesday (December 14). The invitation came from the CWA president, Leonie Skinner, as a way of extending the hand of friendship to the clients and staff who they have known for many years. Green Room Day program coordinator, Wendy Lake, said it was great to get the CWA phone call and the offer that came with it. “It is a special day when people are thoughtful enough to decide to put on a party and then they say – there is nothing you need to do but just turn up – I am still smiling at the thought of that conversation,” she said. “This week is the last week before the Christmas break so parties, a special morning tea, a trip to the Big Banana last week and Christmas shopping in Ballina have made this an exciting time for Green Room clients and staff. “We all love this celebration time. But this year the CWA Christmas lunch invitation topped it off and the best thing is we are making good connections with the CWA ladies that will take us into 2017. “That is something we all look forward to.”
