Ramblers Christmas at Nana Glen

cvi-images   Clarence Valley Ramblers Motorhome Chapter held their Christmas weekend at the Nana Glen Equestrian Centre, a great venue with an undercover area, kitchen and acres of grass to park our vehicles. Mavis and Barry kindly offered to decorate the area and arrived early in the week to carry this out. With tinsel and fairy lights, it certainly looked like Christmas was not far away. The weather was muggy and we had a storm one night, but the weather gods were with us and provided a lovely breeze most days. Forty four vehicles made the pilgrimage south, bearing an array of food for our feast, along with gifts for Secret Santa. Friday we caught up on all the travellers news who had returned from places near and far. We held a 100 club draw with first prize of $75 going to Deb Barnes and $25 to Nancy Holmes. Our catering ladies had been busy preparing trays of finger food for an easy dinner and then it was time to sit back and be entertained. Troy Castle and Connor Willmore were the surprise entertainment. These two extremely talented lads put on a fabulous show of songs new and old. Elvis made an appearance and our Mavis fell in love with Troy. The applause was deafening and encore after encore was called. A huge thanks guys, you made our night memorable in every way. Andy took a group through Tai Chi every morning, while others did their keep fit walk. Our Christmas meal is always a feast of epic proportions, but I think this year it was bigger with more variety. A huge thanks to Yvonne for taking over the catering and her group of helpers. Without all your assistance it just wouldn’t happen. Our daily entertainment was provided by Barry and John. Time then for a few awards, with Deb and Ray winning ‘Into the Spirit’; Roger Porra ‘Chook Babysitter’ and Fran and John ‘Sleeping Beauties’. John played some Christmas music and the man in red arrived with Mrs Claus, bearing gifts for all. Our new super trailer was revealed and thanks must go to Graham Randall, who has spent months fitting it out, and to Fred Payne for donating a jack for the trailer. We held our AGM Sunday and the same committee was re elected for 2017. We would like to take this opportunity to wish the management and staff at the Independent a very merry Christmas and a safe healthy 2017. Thank you for your continued help and support throughout 2016, it is much appreciated. Carol Randall
