CV Rambler fishing weekend at Harwood

Our recent outing at Harwood, on the banks of the mighty Clarence was blessed with beautiful sunshine and warmth. There were 25 vehicles amounting to 49 campers and two visitors.

The keen fishermen were soon at it on Friday afternoon and the catch began to mount up. Dinner at the Harwood Hilton was excellent on Friday night.

The new club house verandah was a lovely place to relax and begin the day with Tai Chi. It also provided the venue for our first activity – bean bag toss, won by Val. Margaret received yet another award. This time “Sherlock Gnomes” for finally finding the missing gift cards – in her motorhome.

The afternoon brought the unforgettable mullet chucking competition. The poor mullet was soon worse for wear with bits flying everywhere. This provided much laughter until Tim & Val were declared winners and the mullet became bait.

The casting competition followed with quite a few entrants and lots of spectators. Some of us had very little experience of casting but had a go anyway. Ray won this event with Dot as runner up.

The fishing competition winners were announced on Sunday morning with Barry catching the most fish (four); Bob Gardner the largest fish (a bream) and Ray the longest fish (a hairtail), followed by the general meeting. Pity the fishing prizes didn’t result in any large cash wins.

Next outing will be at Glenreagh. Hope to see you all there.
