Croquet at Yamba Bowling Club

Last Wednesday we had our Christmas party and 31 people attended including Club CEO Phil and wife Raquel, as well as Club president Ian and wife Joy. Chef Craig prepared a wonderful meal of fresh prawns, crunchy bread rolls, steak, sausages and fruit to finish. Later we each had a piece of great Christmas cake made by Rosemary (Mal insisted he passed her the sugar at one stage).

Ian spoke about the Croquet Club and the effort Fay and John put into it and the fact it is becoming more popular. Graham then presented Fay and John with Christmas gifts organised by Rosemary and Mal from the members in appreciation of their efforts. Yours truly was also presented with a bottle of wine for, as Mal said, telling members where they have been and what they have been doing and where they are going and what they will be doing (that might come in very handy one day Mate).

Diane was winner of the ‘best Chrissy outfit prize’. Ray also won for his Christmas balls hat. Good to see Toni back sporting new knees. Thanks to Sonia for donating two mallets to our Club after the death of a family member.

Next Wednesday 18 will be our last day for the year and will be back under lights on the new green on January 8, we will arrive at the Club at 6pm and have a meal (those who want to) and play will start at 7pm. John and Fay will send you an email regarding this.

Join us on Wednesdays arrive 4.30pm for a 5pm start. New members and visitors welcome (flat soled shoes are a must). All equipment is supplied and people to teach you the game of ‘Golf Croquet’ or if you are already playing we would love to have  game with you; cost is $10.
