Consistency underway for Yamba women bowlers

Tuesday November 9

A good roll-up for mixed social today with 34 contenders for the Bowlo Bucks.

The lucky team was R. Moore, S. Lindsay, M. Parker d D. Minnett, M. Stone, J. Scadden with V. Beddow, C. Ritale, D. Atkinson taking home the runners-up prize defeating B. Backshall, M. Stone. J. McGovern. Consoled by the Consolation prize was team L. Duncan, K. Mason, B. Andrews defeated by C. Cole, J. Abbott, I. Parker.

In other games a close one with S. Farrar, C. Mazoudier, G. Moore (v) d G. Freeman, J. Button, M. Bell, with only two shots in it.

Triples again with M. Abbott, P. Chilcott, T. Allen d M. Wall, J. McHutchison, S. Butler.

Lastly a pairs game completed the field with W. Ballantyne, D. Moore narrowly defeating J. Bell, H. Atkinson.

Also, on the green today – another round of Lyn Olsson Singles Challenge with current title-holder Julie Coulter out to retain her status against Gloria Davis. And for the beginning of the game, it looked like slipping away from her but Julie rallied and levelled the score and so the game see-sawed it’s way to the end, with several points of level scoring only for one or other player to race to the lead again – but in the end with the score at 17 all Julie won all but one of the remaining ends taking the score to a 25 – 18 conclusion.

Thursday November 11

No social bowls today – as the Consistency got underway on a very steamy morning with eight rinks of bowlers testing their drawing skills, aiming to be closest to Jack to get the allocated points. As we have combined our Major and Minor Consistency to achieve a larger field those ranked Minor were granted a 20-shot start.

 Results for the 1st Round are as follows: C. Aitchison d C. Ritale 150 – 139; J. Button d B. Backshall 150 – 85; J. Beaumont d S. Lindsay 150 – 127; V. Beddow d R. McPherson 150 – 138; M. Parker d G. Davis 150 – 107; H. Atkinson d P. Chilcott 150 – 107; M. Stone d V. Terry 150 – 99 K Mason d P. McKenna 150 – 97.

Thanks to all who marked today.

The Jackpot was not won. Lyn Olsson took home the lovely flowers from Debbie May.
