It might be more than six months away, but planning is already underway for Seniors Week 2016, which will run from April 1-10. Last year Seniors Week in the Clarence Valley attracted more than 1400 people to more than 30 events and next year could be even bigger coinciding, as it does, with the Clarence Valley Council’s plunge Festival and Youth Week. Mayor, Richie Williamson, said the combination of events provided an opportunity for organisers to expand the program of events. “It also offers seniors groups a chance to promote their activities and recruit new members, for businesses to thank their senior customers, and aged service and residential care providers to showcase their services,” he said. A planning morning is to be held on August 11 from 10am-noon at the Grafton Community Function Centre in Duke Street, and the council is inviting anyone with an interest to come along. Please RSVP by August 8 by phoning 6645 0001 or emailing heather.lamberton@clarence.nsw.gov.au Limited transport will be provided by the Maclean Bowling Club and Yamba Bowling Club and can be arranged by contacting 6645 0001.
