The room was a sea of black and white, when 31 members and eight guests celebrated our 22nd birthday on the 5th of October. Frankie and the Grey J’s entertained us with some lovely background music, as the ladies mingled and caught up with friends. There were many foot tappers and even a few dancers who ventured out onto the floor, the cake was cut and another year had passed in the story of the Yamba Evening VIEW Club. The social outing for October was to Pippies on the 16th when 19 ladies enjoyed coffee and cake, on a lovely sunny morning. It was also great to see some of our members there, who have been unwell. President Karen reminded us that on Friday the 13th of November, those who have put their name down, will be going to Peter Nicholson’s Fine Food factory at 4pm, should be a very interesting visit. Our guest speaker for the November dinner will be Jon Bunch, who has retired as photographer for the Independent our local free newspaper and occasional TV news cameraman for NBN and Prime 7. Jon spent 26 years in the UK. He worked on a number of news assignments and documentaries, including the fall of the Berlin wall, the first Gulf War, Richard Branson’s Trans-Atlantic balloon flight and many more. The BBC, ITN, CNN, National Geographic channels and smaller production companies in the UK, Eastern Europe and the USA also employed Jon before he returned to Australia in 2004. If you need to advise your attendance for the Dinner on the 9th, please email yambaview@gmail.com or phone Karen on 0403 195 178 by Friday the 6th. For those ladies who would like to come along and try VIEW, why not come as a guest, see what you think. Hope you can come. Margaret Maher
