Claw-some fundraising event in Grafton

Emma Pritchard

Close to 200 people attended the 2nd Annual Crab Races at the Crown Hotel Motel in Grafton on February 17, to cheer on their 10-legged sports stars and raise funds in support of the Grafton Jacaranda Festival.

Featuring mud crab auctions, live entertainment, face painting for the kids, and seafood raffles, the event also featured plenty of community spirit as the buckets were overturned and the competitors began to scuttle quickly, determined to be the first crab to reach the rope bordering the perimeter and be announced as the winner.

A total of $5375.50 was raised during the afternoon.
