Unfortunately, due to lack of interested participants we have had to cancel the 6 week ‘Reading and Understanding the Weather Map’ group which was to be held in Yamba. Ros is seeking expressions of interest in a trip to the open gardens trail on Tamborine Mountain, to be held on September 23-25 this year. With 8 open gardens and guest speakers Paul Plant (editor Sub Tropical Garden magazine) Phil Dudman and Claire Bickel, plus lunches, teas, potters and plant stalls all at the community centre, it should be an informative and interesting weekend. Group passes are $15pp and accommodation must be booked well in advance. Travel and accommodation costs are yet to be finalised. Ring Ros on 6646 0235 or email kitesway@westnet.com.au to register your interest and indicate your preference for a one night or two night excursion. Our annual Membership Day will be held at Treelands Drive Community Centre Yamba on Saturday, May 28 from 10am until 12pm, all members wishing to renew their membership or anyone interested in joining CRU3A should attend, or if unable to make it on the day be sure to forward your subscription and membership form to the treasurer. ‘Friday Art’ group in Yamba Catholic Hall is hosting Morning Tea for Cancer Council on Friday, May 20, everyone is invited to call in for a cuppa and a delicious treat for a small donation. The group has been holding this morning tea for several years but this year they are especially remembering their late member Lorraine Wigley. This is an interesting and fun group with good attendance numbers of enthusiastic artists. Several members have decided to take part in Harry Westera’s ‘Art Adventures’ to Uluru and Norfolk Island.
