The Maclean RSL Women’s Auxiliary

We held our general meeting on Monday, May 2 at the Maclean Services Club. President Lynda opened the meeting and welcomed 14 members and accepted 4 apologies. The Ode was recited and thoughts given to those members experiencing bereavement or illness within their family. Minutes of the April meeting were dealt with as was the correspondence and Treasurer’s report. In general business President Lynda indicated how thrilled she was with the better than expected results of the ANZAC week fundraiser and thanked all those present for a great job done. The raffle was won by the following people: 1st prize – Jim Laing, 2nd prize – Joy Johnson. I would like to thank the public for your on-going support. All monies raised through your generosity is used to assist our veterans from both past and present conflicts – to make their lives a little more bearable, especially those who are homeless or living in permanent care and those who have no family support. Unfortunately we are going to see more and more veterans and many of these veterans are going to need our support in one form or another. To enable us to continue to raise these funds we are always looking for new members to join us in our endeavours to fundraise on behalf of the Maclean RSL Sub-Branch. If there are any ladies who are interested in joining our Auxiliary or would just like to come along to see what we are about, please pop in to any of our monthly meetings which are held on the first Monday of the month at 10am in the River Rooms of the Maclean Services Club or contact Secretary Jan Parker on 6647 7104 or President Lynda Leslie on 6645 1005 for information. Please note that you do not have to have been associated to Defence or the ADF in any way to become a member but just have a desire to assist in our fundraising efforts, all of which go towards our ex-serving and current serving members and their families. Our next meeting will be held on Monday, June 6 commencing at 10am in the River Rooms of the Maclean Services Club. Lynda Leslie
