Clarence Care + Support: Targeting a new generation of support workers
Clarence Valley Council’s Care + Support services will host a stand at the My Future Fest event next Tuesday (August 8) at Grafton TAFE. The event is targeting 15-21 year olds with career, training and health advice.
The recent reforms in aged care and the NDIS mean working in the care and support industry has never been a more feasible option for those looking for part-time work, volunteer experience or a long-term career in the industry.
Care + Support manager Kerry Little said that with consumer-directed care putting the choice in the hands of customers, the organisation needed staff who could spend time with clients and help them do what they want.
“That could be fishing, shopping, surfing or a host of other activities,” she said.
“We want young people to know that working with Care + Support is about helping someone achieve their desired lifestyle and is a very rewarding occupation.
“We want to show young people how enjoyable this type of work can be, and break through some of the stereotypes that exist around caring for the aged and people with disabilities.”
Ms Little said Staff attending on the day would be available for interviews.
