Chatsworth Is / Iluka Sub Branch

Ed, The above board members have been asked, by our members, to honour the brave men and women of the town ship of Iluka, and have their names engraved on a new honour board to replace the original honour board that was lost many years ago, when the old community hall was extended. There has been one made to replace it, that is now installed in the historical museum in the Iluka soldiers memorial hall. We intend to leave it there as a historical piece. The new Honour Board will list all conflicts that Australian forces have been involved in, right up to the present day, and at this moment we have all the names from the first world war, right up to the Vietnam war. Our aim now is to obtain all the names of the town’s people who were living in Iluka and joined the forces and have been deployed overseas, in combat areas. We are asking mums and dads or any relatives who know any of these people, and could they send their names to Honorary Secretary Brian Thomas C/O PO Box 65 Iluka NSW 2466 , with their copy of enlistment, and their active overseas service, posting date and place. This will be time consuming, and may take many months to complete, so the sooner you get those names into the Secretary, the quicker the better. Once that is done, we will have an idea, of the size of the Honour Board, that we will have to purchase and have engraved. Remember, these are your loved ones, and we must ensure their names are remembered, in the years to come. Their offspring’s in time to come, will reflect on the sacrifice, they made. So we are able to live in a great country, like no other in the world…Australia. We are hoping this Honour Board can be finished by next Anzac Day 2016. Honorary Secretary, Brian W Thomas
