Former Yamba Historical Society president Marea Buist has stepped back into the role of president after the current president, Margot Scott decided at the AGM to leave and take up travelling. “My husband and I have just bought a caravan and are going to do more travelling around Australia and that doesn’t leave much time for volunteer activities”. Mrs Scott said. Also leaving her position after 15 years as secretary, Anne McCallum has also found the travel bug. “In my 15 years service as secretary I have seen many changes and the place has got a lot bigger. I contributed to the society most days and have had a great sense of satisfaction and feeling that I was contributing and doing good things for the museum”. Mrs McCallum said. New president Marea Buist said she was just as passionate about the museum and Yamba’s history as ever and was looking forward to working with her new team. The multi award winning Port of Yamba Historical Society are still looking for a secretary and if you are interested contact the museum on 6646 1399.
