What a wonderful and tasty success our ‘Soup Day’ was. Our appetizers were a series of activities for our brains. Well the simplicity of these astounded us at times but a good time enjoyed by all. Then it was time for the main course. Such a range of soups to behold. There was chicken, tomato, pumpkin and of course pea and ham to name a few. These were joined with an equal variety of breads and croutons. One had to restrain from over filling the soup mug so as to try the variety. A huge thank you to Joy for being the hostess with the mostess as not only did we enjoy soup but a surprise trifle made an a brief appearance until it was enjoyed by all. Raffle won by Jean Cook. Don’t forget to book your ticket at Yamba cinema for “Bridget Jones’s Baby’. This is a great way to enjoy the morning. There will be raffles, a chocolate wheel and of course morning tea. These morning teas are a sight to behold. A huge variety of homemade goodies sweet and a few savouries. So invite some friends, book some seats, bring your appetite and  a few extra coins for a raffle. This is a morning filled with fun friendship and fabulous food. The funds raised assist us in with our sponsorship of the three children in the ‘Learning for Life’ programme that we currently help. This is not the only programme that The Smith Family support. In the pre primary area there are programmes called ‘Lets Read and Let’s Count’. Encouraging families to share stories, words and books everyday to help them establish a love of books. To also bring practical skills and activities so they can explore numbers in everyday life. These are the building blocks of their future.   Beth Spence
