Championships under way for Yamba lady golfers

Last Wednesday was a Single Stableford, easing the way to the Championships which began on Friday. Winner in A Grade was Suzanne Scott with 39 points from Glen Czarnota 38. Kay Caller was B Grade winner also with 39 and the r/up was Prue James, recently returned to our shores, with 37. Pin winners were Carolyn Chester on Yamba Medical Centre’s 3, Jenny Stratford Yamba Florist 3/2, Suzie Stokes on Yamba Pro Shop’s 9 and also Yamba Fair Butchery 10, Judy Palich The Shoe Boutique 12, Glynis Meredith Clovelly Fashions 17 and Wendy O’Brien The Block 17/2. Trish White was the winner in the 9 holers’ Single Stableford with 16 and Jenifer Moody was the pin winner on 3. Draws were won by Robyn Wiblen for Sweet and Spicy, Pam Atherton Civic Video, Maggie Julian The Friendly Grocer’s lovely cooked chook, Di Sigle Priceline Pharmacy and Darrie Nightingale Yamba Florist. Sandra Wallace was the lucky raffle winner. The first round of the Championships took place on Friday and the daily winners were A Grade Sandra Wallace 75c/b from Jennifer Fagan also 75 and Jennifer also won the gross with 89c/b. Best putter was Glen Czarnota 30. Easily winning B Grade was Deirdre Gough with a neat 68 and Deirdre also won the putting 31. Glenda Smith came second with 73 and the gross winner was Tina-Louise Downs 103. Pins went to Wendy Shanahan Tom’s Chinese Seafood Restaurant 3, Deirdre Gough Retireinvest 3/2, Helen Collins Peter Campbell Physiotherapy 9, Virginia Moore Kitchen to Table 10, Darrie Nightingale Yamba’s Fisho 12 and also Wato’s Fish & Burgers 17, Kay Caller won Yamba Pharmacy 17/2.
