Censorship?

Ed,

It would appear that perhaps comprehension isn’t a requisite skill for journalists.

I took great offence at the language used in Oscar Tamsens column in your paper on 5th October 2022 edition.

I re-read that column today, including the introductory paragraph which I’d not read previously. I saw for the first time the reference to the British Empire; the reference was made in the introductory paragraph detailing Mr Tamsen’s career.

If Mr Tamsen and his fan club can’t comprehend what was offensive in the language used in the Column of 5th October 2022, it is not my place to educate them. If they are unable to identify the story itself as the epitome of British Colonialist accounts of a ‘history written by the very bright victor’, there’s nothing I can do to help them.

I’ll continue to support the paper, but I’ll use my freedom of reading to avoid any future Tamsen columns, just as I did last week!
