Books…books…books – and even DVD’s and CD’s

Books are continuing to flood in for the next Maclean Rotary Giant Book Sale to held on October 11-12. The sale as usual will be in the dining room of the Maclean Bowling Club from 9am to 6.30pm Friday and 9am to noon on Saturday. Each book sale attracts a new range of donated books and this sale includes quite a few on sailing and coastal navigation.

The handcraft section of hobbies has several dozen books on embroidery, beading, crochet and children’s’ clothing and knitting. The donations also often include items of collectors’ interest and at this sale there a a number of bound copies of Popular Mechanics dating from the 1940’s. Several early medical volumes, nearing 100 years old, also make interesting reading.

The previous sale attracted a large number of DVD’s and this sale will include some 300 or more, as well as CD’s. As usual the children’s books are free to children, with nana’s asked for a donation. Proceeds are shared with the Clarence Library Service and Rotary projects, including rebuilding the helicopter pad at the Maclean Hospital. And despite inflation, the price of $8 to fill a bag remains unchanged.
