Artist of the Month at Ferry Park Gallery

cvi   May artist: Ann Verran – Pearl Jewellery Designer Ann has created a range of pieces, using pearls and adding Swarovski crystals, semi-precious gemstones and interesting beads. Lots of colour is used to enhance the lustre of the beautiful Pearls. Each of Ann’s pieces is unique. She never makes exactly the same piece twice. She uses pearls of a variety of shapes to create her pieces. baroque, coin, flat, biwa and rosebud pearls give interest to her designs. Ann also uses semi-precious gemstones to enhance some pieces. Coral, garnet, turquoise, amethysts and malachite are just a few that are used. Ann has also designed a Swarovski crystal collection that adds another dimension to her jewellery making. Ann began designing jewellery in 2005 and soon found that pearls are her forte. She loves the very tactile feel of the pearls and the fact that no two are exactly the same. They are one of only a few organic gems. Pearls are a soft gem and do not like to be exposed to chemicals. When looked after, pearls are an heirloom gemstone that can be passed down through the ages. Ann restrings pearls on silk remodels pieces and repairs a variety of different types of jewellery. Ann designs and creates her pearl jewellery at her studio in Yamba. She accepts commissions and displays her work at Ferry Park Gallery at Maclean, Bellingen Craft Markets, Ulmarra Craft & Collectibles, and Art & Craft Fairs in the Northern Rivers. Pearls are the ideal gift for Mother’s Day. She can be contacted at annspearls@gmail.com or M: 0400 501 347 Ferry Park Gallery is open every day from 5am to 5pm.
