Another win to Kathy Lollback at Yamba

Kathy Lollback is certainly in the midst of a purple patch (41pts) with another win last week in a field of 36 ladies.

Margaret Solomon followed closely as r/up (40pts) ahead of Jenny Moody (38pts).

NTP winners: Yamba Medical Centre (3rd) – Val Pate; Yamba Florist, Debbie May (3rd 2nd shot) – Sandra Russo; Leonie May Millinery (9th) – Jane Bonner; Yamba Fair Butchery (10th) – Jeannie Doolan; The Shoe Boutique (12th) – Darrie Nightingale; Clovelly Fashions (17th) -Kathy Parker and The Wobbly Chook (17th 2nd shot) – Kathy Lollback.

Balls were awarded to 35 pts c/b.

As our annual fundraiser for Tee Off for Cancer, the ladies were encouraged to buy ‘mulligans’ to help with their rounds and these funds, combined with raffle takings, raised $500. Many thanks go to all who contributed so generously. Unfortunately, there were not enough players to hold a nine-hole competition.

The wet weather played havoc with our Friday and Saturday competitions as the course was closed for both.

Last Wednesday was an emotional day for many of our members when we said goodbye to John and Natasha Wright after 11 years of working with the Yamba ladies. To acknowledge their friendship, commitment, and support over the years, they were presented with a gift voucher to spend on decorating their new home. Once again, all the very best John and Natasha for all that presents itself ahead. They will be sorely missed but certainly not forgotten!

Our 2BBB Matchplay winners will be decided this week with Jo Simmons/Susan Wilson and Sam Brown/Fay Gimenez contesting the final round. Good luck ladies!

There are a number of local Open Days which may be of interest to some of our ladies. This week’s postponed Maclean Veterans Day has been rescheduled to Monday August 23 followed by their Open Day on Tuesday August 24.

The WGNR Annual Tournament will take place in Grafton from Monday to Wednesday July 19 -21. With Stroke, Stableford and Foursomes events over the three days, we are strongly encouraging our ladies to support this event.

It would also be great to support our Iluka friends who will be holding their Open Day on Monday August 2.

Finally, the Woodburn-Evans Head Veterans Open Day is to be held on Monday September 27. Please contact Margery for details and entries.

This week’s rounds will be Single Stableford on Wednesday followed by a Single Par round on Friday.

Congratulations to our winners and happy golfing.
