For the first time in the Grafton Rifle Club’s history, members were required to shoot in face masks, due to Covid-19 restrictions.
This did not worry the 12 shooters who enjoyed the afternoon’s calm conditions at the 500yd mound.
Double possibles were the order of the day. F Class shooter Allan Johnson was seen skipping off the mound after shooting his first ever double possible with scores of 60.3 and 60.4. Two double possibles were also shot in Target rifle by Nick Abrahall 50.7 & 50.7 and Peter Brown 50.7 & 50.7. Hunter Class saw three double possible shot by Peter Brown 50.9 & 50.10, Dave Grundy 50.9 & 50.9 and Wayne Pearson 50.4 & 50.6.
Dennis Hilton shot a single possible in Target rifle, scoring 50.7. F Standard single possibles were shot by Mat Bloomer 60.7, John Bloomer 60.6 and Sue Bloomer 60.6.
Two new shooters Tom Lancaster and Courtney Hoy, who are learning the ropes in F class, have taken advice from coaches. This week was Tom’s first try at Target shooting and he was learning about rifle safety and how to set up on the mound. Tom is showing great potential scoring 56 with 3 X’s and 55 with 3 X’s. It was week two for Courtney and she is concentrating on rifle set up, maintaining a comfortable position and trigger control. Courtney scored 58 with 5 X’s and 59 with 4 X’s (1 more point and she would have scored a possible).
