Coutts croquet’s Peter Deeth excels at State

The rain and holidays reduced activity on the lawns this week.

Away from Coutts Crossing, Peter Deeth (who last week shared the State Ricochet Championship with Wayne Gadke), continued his fine form in the State Singles championship. He won the Plate, effectively fifth overall in NSW. In the final, he beat former Coutts Crossing member, now Sawtell player, Roderick Munro 8-5. Peter played well against Sawtell players all week.

Before the rains Phil Jordan, our new Club GC Champion continued his form with another three big wins. Pat MacLennan had an excellent unbeaten day, while Joy Campbell again showed how much coaching and practice has improved her game.

Lockdowns and border restrictions have stopped Peter and Gillian Martin going to Coolangatta to defend their Queensland OBE titles.

The week finished with Simon Cook defeating Peter Martin 20-10, although the match was for a long time much closer.
