Love was certainly in the air when 24 members of the Clarence River U3A group ‘A Little Bit of Culture’ travelled up to QPAC, Brisbane for the matinee performance of Strictly Ballroom last month. It was an early start as we boarded the coach for what was to be a fabulous day. A delicious morning tea was enjoyed at Brunswick Heads. It was Eva Casson’s birthday so we surprised her with a cake slice and she blew out the candle to the sounds of us singing Happy Birthday to her. We boarded the coach again and were each given a raffle ticket. There were quite a few lucky winners of the lovely prizes. It was a slow trip through the crowded streets of Brisbane to QPAC but most had enough time to have lunch before settling into their seats for the show. And what a colourful performance it was! The costumes were magnificent, the performance was great & we bopped along to some well known songs. It truly was a show that entertained us all and had audience participation. In fact some of whom found themselves starring up on stage! On the way home we stopped at the Service Centre at Tweed Heads where we all enjoyed dinner. Upon re-boarding the coach Scott (our driver) put a DVD on and before we knew it, just as the movie finished, we were turning into Woombah to drop a few members off. All voted the day a huge success and many of them will be heading back up to Brisbane again on 21 November for our next big outing to see Les Miserables. The ALBoC movie/lunch day every Tuesday at Yamba Cinema is going strong. Depending on what people have on in their busy schedules we could have between 5-15 attend each week. We all enjoy the movie then head off for lunch and a chat. These days are always full of fun & friendship. If you are a member of CRu3a why not join us?
