The Years 7 and 8 Maclean High School debating teams recently hosted two debates against Grafton High School in the third round of the 2019 Premier’s Debating Challenge. In the first debate, the Maclean A team took the affirmative position on the topic that we should ban cosmetic surgery, while in the second debate the Maclean B team took the negative position on the topic that we should introduce mandatory parenting courses. Despite presenting well-constructed arguments, both of our teams were narrowly defeated. It was yet another valuable experience for our teams, who received valuable feedback from the adjudicator, Ms Sue McLeod. Our students were fine representatives of Maclean High School and deserve praise for their efforts.
