Grants totalling close to $74,000 have been approved for 52 community projects in the Clarence Valley. The grants, from the Clarence Valley Council’s community initiatives program, aim to support, encourage and celebrate community participation, community organisations and volunteering. The grants went to organisations like the Carrs Creek School of Arts, which received $940 towards the cost of the building and installation of cabinets for one of the only remaining NSW School of Arts library collections, and $478 for rates assistance. The smallest grant, $100, went to Grafton High School. Other grants went to pre-schools, service clubs, community groups and a Landcare group. The community initiatives program offers two rounds of funding annually. Council will only make one donation to any organisation each year.
