60th anniversary of collision

On Saturday February 10, at 1100 the Clarence Valley Naval and Mariners held a Commemorative Service for the loss of 82 officers and sailors of HMAS Voyager following the collision with HMAS Melbourne at 2056 (8.56pm) on the 10th of February 1964.

The weather held off and was well attended, including Mr Gary Blaxter who was serving onboard Melbourne on that night and assisted some rescues using Melbourne’s tenders and Mr Norm Lee who served on the British Submarine Tabard that exercised with both ships earlier that day. Thank you to all who came along, may they rest in peace “lest we forget”.
