Yamba Yabbies 200th meeting

Yamba Yabbie celebrated their 200th meeting March 7 with numbers down but a great night enjoyed by all. To celebrate, Jan C brought along a bowl of fruit and chocolate biscuits. Ilma was Toastmaster choosing ‘New Beginnings’ and gave some wonderful quotes about the Zodiacs and what’s in store for us all under certain planets. Self introductions followed before all roles were explained with Timer – Jan B, Meeting Listener – Noel and Grammarian – Jan C who gave ‘Reiterate’ as word of the night. In the speech section, we were entertained by Caz with her speech titled ‘Body Language’ where a mime was carried out followed by body language explanations. Joy was next speaker with speech titled ‘Toilet Hygiene’ selling a proposal to toilet manufacturers and suppliers. The main item was a bio-degradable toilet seat cover which would ‘Stop the spread of germs’. Belinda and Brendon were the Evaluators. Ilma began a Round Robin which told a story of an eel. This was followed by a couple of ‘jokes’ from Jan C before the break was enjoyed. Joy was Table Topics Master in the impromptu section and Deyann and Pam gave the speakers Jeanette, Noel, Belinda, Jan C, Caz and Pam excellent evaluations. In the ‘Soap Box’ section, Jeanette spoke about ‘pests’ brought into Australia from other countries. Ilma spoke on the ‘Zika Virus’ and Noel on graffiti damage carried out at the Harwood Hall and punishment they should receive. Dues are due this month, so any member still to pay, please do at our next meeting on March 21 or contact Jan C to make other arrangements. Meetings are held 1st and 3rd Mondays at Yamba Bowling Club commencing 7pm sharp. Guests are always made welcome, so come along and see what Toastmasters could do for you. Joy Lauder
