Tuesday September 3

Today marks the beginning of the Minor Singles with four rinks of contenders taking to the greens. Three of these games were won with a comfortable margin but one game between Pam Conley and Ruthie Fletcher was down to the wire, with Pam being the 1-shot winner. Marker was V. Terry.

Other results are as follows: Barb Cross d B. Shatte (marker R. McKibbin); Val Pate d Margaret Durante (marker M. Abbott); Lois Duncan d V. Beddow (marker K. Mason).

Also on the greens were 19 social bowlers with two rinks of triples and two of pairs. It was a triples team who won the money – B. Nielsen (swinger), F. Lean, G. Davis d B. Nielsen, J. Shipway (v), N. Smith. Also G.L. Davis, K. Freeman, T. Heath (v) d M. McBey, R. Arkcol (v), R. Dickson and in the pairs – L. Gregor, M. Conlan d S. Lindsay, M. Stone and J. Coulter, C. Ritale d J. Hudson, J. Campbell.

Thursday September 5

And the Minor Singles continues into the semi-final stage. Earning a place in the final on Tuesday September 10 – Lois Duncan overcame Val Pate (marker Ruth Fletcher) and Barb Cross defeated Pam Conley (marker K. Mason). 

One rink of triples and two rinks of pairs made up the social field today with the pairs game of S. Lindsay, V. Terry who defeated M. Dee, J. Abbott to come out as lucky winners for the day. The other pair’s game saw M. Abbott, J. Pryor d W. Bell, M. Conlan and in the Triples J. Pearson, C. Ritale, C. Aitchison d B. Shatte, T. Heath (v), R. Dickson.

The jackpot was won by Judy Pryor’s rink.

Queen of the Green

On Thursday (August 29) another Queen of the Green was toppled off her throne. Long-reigning Judy Abbott was dethroned by Wendy Ballantyne in a thrilling game with Wendy off to a slow start but catching up and levelling on the 16th end. After that the lead changed end to end but at stumps – it was Wendy who settled the matter with 3 point win. Gloria Davis was the marker for the occasion.

Bowler of the Month for July is – Maria Sakac. Congratulations Maria.

Don’t forget District Gala Day on Thursday September 12 – morning tea time changed to 9.30am.
