Yamba women nail it!

The No 3 Pennant super sides comprising Julie Coulter, Marianne Jenner, Carol Ritale and Wendy Ballantyne, Lois Duncan, Monica Parker, Helen Atkinson and Chris Cole (Robyn McPherson reserve) stormed the field at Bombaderry for the 2022 State finals.

The girls came through several rounds of fierce opposition, with impressive wins all the way through the rounds commencing on Thursday November 18 to reach the finals played on Sunday November 20 – cruising through to a win in the semi in the morning against St. Georges Basin and capping it off with a 6-shot win in the final in the afternoon against the Parkes side.

It was a very blustery Sunday in Bombaderry with winds reaching up to 70 knots, but our Yamba ladies performed with precision, reaching the coveted goal – the State Flag for No 3 Pennant 2022.

Our last State Flag was in 1994 – the No 4 Flag with a close runner-up in the State in 2012. They are very hard to achieve against the top bowlers from all over the State so congratulations to each and every team member.  A great win for our Club and District and all involved in the journey for these eight wonderful players.

Meanwhile still a little slow on the greens for social bowls at present but is sure to pick up now the Pennant season is finalised.
