Yamba Welding – into the future

Yamba Welding is helping to keep the local economy moving forward. Providing stable employment and apprenticeships benefits the local community as a whole including other small businesses. A Federal Government grant of $255,000 announced by Member for Cowper, Luke Hartsuyker in 2005 to expand the business’s workshop helped kick into gear Yamba Welding’s venture into building vessels for various government departments. With a current staff of 28 including eight apprentices, and 3 new staff due to come on board with more to come, they are providing plenty of opportunity to the area’s young people An investment of $150,000 in new equipment is helping to keep up with the workload and ensure the business’s ability to sustain growth into the future Many projects currently under construction are keeping the workshop buzzing. Naiad vessels ranging in size from 5.4m to 12m are under construction for Border Force, Queensland National Parks, Queensland Police, NSW Roads & Maritime and NSW DPI Fisheries.
