With hot weather not a deterrent for 156 staunch players contesting the mid week Stableford, visitors are starting to roll in for the holiday period. A Grade winner was John Daley returning 39pts from Greg Doolan with 38 on a count back from David Miles 38pts. A Reserve was won by Robb Robertson on a close count back from Rowdy Niland both having 41 points, 3rd went to Gus Young with 40pts. The winner of B Grade was Larry McKenzie who returned the score of the day 44 points giving him the double with Saturday’s medal, 2nd went to Peter Julian with 41pts and 3rd was Max Gibbs with 40pts on a count back. C Grade winner was Ken Gallagher with 42pts from Brian Smith 41pts on a count back from Ken Lillie 41pts for 3rd. NTPs were; On the SeaFire Steak and Seafood 3rd Tim Stokes at 83cm, the Peter Campbell Physio 9th went to Jim Baird 159cm, the 10th SeaFire hole was won by Vets Captain Greg Starr 170cm, the 12th Yamba Barber shop hole was Bruce Douglas 170cm and the SeaFire 17th went to Blake Harris 126cm. Balls for the day went to 36 with 20 on the back 9. Saturday Mens Stableford There were 128 players who braved the darkened skies to contend the week end Stableford competition and with the impromptu visit from the giant Airforce Hercules buzzing the fairways very slowly and very low, the scores made the course look easy. A Grade winner with 43pts was Scott Stratford, 2nd went to Graham Kulmar with 41pts and 3rd was Terry Lawes with 40pts on a count back. A Reserve grade went to the Awesome Van Isackson with 43 points and a kiss from Santa, 2nd went to Kevin Lowe 42pts and 3rd went to Andre Rizk with 39pts on a count back. The winner of B Grade was Carl Wood with 41pts, 2nd went to Head Moran with 40pts and 3rd was Dave Muir with 39pts on a count back. C Grade saw Barry Latham return 41pts on a count back from Ray Scovell 41 and 3rd went to Perry Robinson 39pts. NTPs were won by; Kevin Lowe on the John Wright Pro Shop hole at 212cm, the Peter Campbell Physio 9th was Brian Scanlon at 246cm, the SeaFire 10th went to Alex Podbereski at 276cm, the SeaFire 12th was Don Schlussler at 48cm, the Bean Scene 17th went to Tony Fisher 240cm and the SeaFire 2nd shot 17th went to Terry Bull at 215cm. Balls for the day went to 37pts with 19 on the back. Sunday Mixed Golf Sixty four players celebrated the Christmas mixed with carts decorated for the 4 person Ambrose. The winning team for the day were Julie Campbell, Bruce Lulham, Matt and Catherine Chenney who returned a score of 56 ¼, 2nd place went to the team of Darie Nightingale, Wayne Rice, Prue and Keith James 57 3/4 on a count back, 3rd place was sponsored by John Wright Pro Shop, the team of Julie Campbell, Ken Bodycote, Jennie and Greg Doolan with 57 ¾ . Coastal Pest Solutions 4th place went to Susie and Jamie Stokes, Tina Earp and Pete Tonkin with 58 3/8. NTPs were; On the SeaFire Steak and Seafood 3rd Greg Doolan and Virginia Moore, the Kahbu hair 9th was John Daley and Lexie Walker, the Block Café 10th went to Pete Tonkin and Pauline McKinnon and the Sassafras Pizza and Past 12th was Greg Doolan and Paulina McKinnon.
