Yamba Stableford conditions suit Gail Gore-Brown

We had perfect playing conditions last Wednesday August 12 in our very welcomed return to Single Stableford round after two weeks of Stroke. Conditions must have suited many in our field of 65 as a high number of our ladies scored well.

Our winners across all three grades lodged excellent scores. In Div 1, Gail Gore-Brown lodged a very impressive 40pts to win with the ever-consistent, Sandra Wallace, taking out r/up with 37. Leigh Robertson won Div 2 with another great score this week (40pts) followed by Julie Campbell on 37pts (who has been playing fabulous golf over recent weeks). Winner in Div 3 was a very thrilled Phyllis Telfer who scored 39pts. She was trailed by Penny Cope (37pts) who was awarded r/up. Our Wednesday NTP are sponsored by Yamba Medical Centre; Yamba Florist, Debbie May; Leonie May Millinery; Yamba Fair Butchery; The Shoe Boutique; Clovelly Fashions and The Block. Winners last week were Sue Wilson; Maiva Burnham; Kerry Greig; Kathy Parker; Glen Czarnota; Janine Zietsch and Dulcie Nurse. Balls were awarded to 33pts c/b.

Sonya McLennan was the winner in the nine-hole competition with 17pts. A great score, Sonya.

Perfect playing conditions were reflected in many healthy scores for the 50 ladies who played in last Friday’s Single Stableford competition. Congratulations go to our winners, especially to Sue Skelton and Sandra (Sam) Brown for their excellent rounds in their first wins as ‘Yamba Ladies’.

Helen Collins has been playing consistent golf of late. She continued the trend last Friday to win Div 1 (36 pts) closely followed by Lee Daley on 35pts c/b. Div 2 winner was Sue Skelton (40pts) with the unflappable, Moira Morrow, taking out r/up on 39pts. Newcomer, Sam Brown, will definitely be caught by the golfing ‘bug’ now after winning Div 3 with a fantastic score of 40pts. Often in the winners’ circle, Judy Palich lodged a great score of 36pts as r/up.

Balls were awarded to 34pts.

Our Friday NTP are sponsored by Flots and Jets; Valley Finance; Peter Campbell Physio; Kitchen To Table; Melt Massage & Beauty; Yamba Ladies and Yamba Pharmacy. Last week’s winners were Janine Zietsch; Lyn Ford; Helen Collins; Gail Gore-Brown; Lynne Donsworth and Judy Palich.

Rainy conditions last Saturday deterred our usual lady golfers from hitting the course. Fingers crossed for fine conditions this Saturday.

Let’s also hope the Weather Gods are in a charitable mood for this week’s annual Mike Macqueen Memorial Shootout 2BBB Stroke and 2-person Ambrose rounds. Good luck to our contenders.
