The new and the young

Two great days on the Iluka croquet lawn on Friday and Sunday, with more newcomers coming along with the intent of getting exercise and just out to enjoy themselves.

Just a quick reminder to some of our more senior players, please remember that the newcomers have never played before so just be patient as we try to pair them up with experienced players (so that we can teach them the art of the game and to get the game over in the shortest possible time). Speaking of which I had the pleasure of playing with our newest recruit on Friday, welcome Lee. Lee has never played the game before, but after a bit if coaching she won her first game at her second attempt and scored all the hoops. When we went into the club on completion of the day for well earnt drinks, she was asking when the NSW titles were on, but unfortunately for Lee the winner of the day was Vaughan with Shay another new player the runner up.

Sunday once again saw big numbers turn up to play and the office worker Deb prevailed on the day with Marlene being second past the post. We also had two very-young juniors play and the youngest one Rex went home with the bragging rights over his brother Beau, well done boys.

Just a reminder that our deferred AGM will be held this coming Friday August 21 in the main auditorium, with croquet to follow on the completion of the AGM.
