Yamba SLSC

The final proficiency test for all patrol and water safety personnel is this Sunday, 1st November. Please report upstairs in the clubhouse at 8.30am, for a 9am start. Don’t forget you need to have completed the online components on the Members Portal prior to Sunday. A Gold Medallion course is being held at Cudgen on 1st November and Ballina on 21st November. First Aid courses are being run at Shelley Beach in Ballina on: 7/11 19/12; 20/2; 16/4. Closing dates are 2 weeks before course begins but you would be wise to enrol (through the Yamba office) ASAP. The Surf Club’s Administration position has become available. This paid position will suit someone with strong communication and administration skills. Knowledge and use of Microsoft office, MYOB and Surfguard is recommended, although not essential. The position is 10 hours per week, over 3 days, with some flexibility on days and start/finish times. Well done to 10 year old Lilli Young, off 10 seconds, who won the Carl Schaeffer Handicap Swim on Sunday. Anita Salvestro, off 100 seconds was 2nd and Matt Eke, off 70 seconds 3rd. This popular surf race is held every Sunday morning, with registrations at 11am, and the race staring at 11.30am. Nippers is on at Main Beach 9.30-11.30am. U10’s parents are rostered for set up. Could you please be at the beach by 9am. Congratulations to the Yamba Nippers who represented Yamba SLSC at the Branch U12;s to Open Carnival held at Salt on Sunday. Carissa Miltiadou place 3rd in the U12’s Female Board Race and Flags and 5th in the Surf Race, Beach Sprints and Ironperson. Cameron Varcoe placed 2nd in the U12’s Male Beach Sprints, 6th in the flags and 9th in the Board Race. Jorden Elabbasi placed 2nd in the U14’s male Surf Race, 3rd in the Board Race and 5th in the Ironman. The next carnival is at Cabarita on 8th November, anyone wishing to attend needs to let Danielle Connolly, Simone Bradley or Andrea Miltiadou know by this Sunday. If your child is interested in attending carnivals there is training provided by Todd Ives at 8:30am on Sundays (before Nippers) that they can attend.
