Yamba lady golfers, fortunate to be playing

With perfect playing conditions over recent weeks, our Yamba ladies golf competitions have attracted record numbers of participants. We all acknowledge how privileged we are to be playing golf at the moment and very thankful that our ladies are adhering so stringently to the COVID restrictions which are in place: groups of two, no touching the flag, masks on when not actively playing, social distancing at all times and not assembling before or after games. Well done, everyone!

Wednesday August 25 round was a single Stableford and had 70 ladies participating.

The Div 1 winner was Leigh Robertson (35pts c/b) who edged out Helen Collins (35pts c/b) as r/up.

Jo Simmons won Div 2 (37pts), beating Lyn White with 36pts.

The day’s best score came from Trish White (40pts) in Div 3; r/up was Meg Kulmar (38pts).

Balls were awarded to 34pts c/b.

Friday’s round was the 4th of 6 par rounds, and we had a record number of 72 ladies participating.

Winner of Div 1, Helen Collins (+5), came in well clear of Margaret Fishburn (+2).

In Div 2, Sue Skelton (+4) took the gong in front of Julie Campbell (+2). It was great to see Lyn Bartley (+5) back in the winner’s circle. Lyn’s nearest rival was Lynne Eke (+2).

Balls were awarded to -1 c/b.

Due to COVID restrictions, there are no NTP prizes, but our supportive local sponsors are still acknowledged: Yamba Medical Centre; Yamba Florist, Debbie May; Leonie May Millinery; Yamba Fair Butchery; The Shoe Boutique; Clovelly Fashions, Maclean; The Wobbly Chook; Flots and Jet; Valley Finance; Peter Campbell Physio; Kitchen to Table; Amie Rose Beauty; Nicholson’s Fine Foods and Yamba Pharmacy.

Conditions were perfect last Saturday morning for the 13 ladies who played amongst the field.

New member, Kelly Ingledew, won with a very impressive round of 41pts. Congratulations Kelly and welcome. Runner up was Tana Lowe (36pts c/b) from Fay Gimenez.

Upcoming events include this Wednesday’s 8th monthly medal and final Golf NSW Medal, followed by this Friday’s single Stableford.  Next week, both the Wednesday and Friday rounds will be single Stableford.

Congratulations to our winners over the past week.

Happy golfing.
