Palm Lake golf

With the Covid restrictions still on for our August monthly medal, we anticipated a small roll up but were surprised to have good numbers on Tuesday August 24.

Playing in twos, and one person per cart, had us moving at a good pace and even the walkers kept up – it must have been the threat of rain which did manage to catch the last couple of groups before they finished. Even so, it was a good round, especially for some of our long handicappers.

Ray Stevens won the day with a nett 27 and it will be a while before he hits the winners list again with his handicap for next week being reduced to 20. Paul Christie returned with 30 and Denis Kelly 33 to fill the minor placings.

Despite not having a brilliant round, Steve Dorrell saved what might have been a disaster, with his putter running hot for 13 puts over the nine holes.

NTPs went to Bob Oddy on the 10th, Bruce Douglass on the 12th and Denis Kelly on the 17th.

We’ll be back to Stableford next week.
