Yamba Knockout title finalists

Congratulations go to Janine Zietsch and Sandra Russo who will play for the 2023 Knockout title (Nikki Irwin Shield) this Wednesday (March 22). Janine and Sandra played against Janette Blair and Carrie Aitken in their respective matches ahead of the field last Wednesday.

Well done to everyone for reaching this part of the competition and best wishes go to both Janine and Sandra for the final.

Last Wednesday’s Irish Stableford Team event attracted a field of 53 players who donned green and orange to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. Despite the conditions which were very hot and humid, it was a great day.

The winning team (81pts) involved Lynne Donsworth, Janine Zietsch, Terri Collingburn and Jacky Penfold. The next best score was lodged by Ann Groom, Gail Scobie, Joan Berry and Jenny Muir (80pts).

NTP sponsors and winners were:

Sassafras 3rd – Fiona Smart; Yamba Florist, Debbie May 3rd (2nd) – Lorraine Coulton; SeaFire Restaurant voucher 9th

(2nd) – Val Pate; Yamba Fair Butchery 10th – Lyn Rowland; Leonie May Millinery 10th (2nd) – Sandra Russo; The Shoe Boutique 12th – Janelle Carpenter; Clovelly Fashions, Maclean 17th – Lyn Rowland and The Wobbly Chook 17th (2nd) – Gail Scobie.

Balls were awarded to 78pts (excl. the two winning teams listed above).

Friday’s Single Stableford had a reduced field of 37 players and, consequently, only one grade.

Intense heat had only the hardy participating! The day’s winner was Jennifer Fagan (37pts); r/up was Jeanne Jensen (35pts) and the 2nd r/up was Tina-Louise Downes (34pts). Balls were awarded to 31pts c/b.

Our NTP winners were: Flots and Jets 3rd – NA; Valley Finance 3rd (2nd) – NA; SeaFire Restaurant voucher 9th (2nd) – Jeanne Jensen; Kitchen to Table 10th – Jeanne Jensen; Peter Campbell Physio 10th (2nd) – Lyn Bartley; Amie Rose Beauty 12th – Helen Collins; Nicholson Fine Foods 17th – Kathy Parker and Yamba Pharmacy 17th (2nd) – Gayle Stanfield.

It was another hot Saturday morning last week for the eight ladies who played Single Stableford. Tana Lowe continues to play awesome golf, winning for the second week in a row with 39pts. Tana is more focused on her Stroke score though and was happy to go one better this week, to have 79 off the stick. It is a pleasure for all of us to play with Tana and to witness her golf journey. Congratulations Tana. Jane Bonner was runner-up with 31pts, and Julie Campbell won the NTP sponsored by SeaFire Restaurant.

We have 20 ladies who are looking forward to representing Yamba Ladies in this Friday’s GIMY Shield at Maclean. Good luck everyone!
