Yamba hold a “perfect” championship

Last Wednesday’s 27-hole Foursomes Championship round had 62 players who were treated to perfect playing conditions.

The Gross Champions were Darrie Nightingale/Gail Gore-Brown followed by Gross runners up, Janette Blair/Fiona Smart.

The Nett winners were Lyn Rowland/Jenny Dewar and the Nett runners up Leigh Robertson/Carrie Aitken.

In Div 2, Lynne Donsworth/Fay Gimenez were Gross Champions while the Gross runners up were Lynne M White/Lyn White.

The Div 2 Nett winners were Jill Brown/Shellee Clare and Val Pate/Kathy Lollback were Nett runners up.
In the daily results, the winners were Darrie Nightingale/Gail Gore-Brown (106) and Jill Brown/Shellee Clare (111.75) were runners up. The day’s 2nd runners up were Lyn Rowland/Jenny Dewar (113.25). Our NTP sponsors and winners: Yamba Florist, Debbie May 3rd – Jeanne Jensen/Helen Collins and The Shoe Boutique 12th – Lyn Saggers/Tina Louise-Downes. Balls were awarded to 118.5.

With only five ladies playing on Wednesday, there were not enough players for a Nine-Hole competition; however, they enjoyed a social round of nine holes.

Ladies were holding on to their hats in Friday’s Single Stableford as they negotiated a howling 40km/h southerly. With 40 players, there were three divisions, and, despite the testing conditions, there were some decent scores.

The Div 1 winner was Leigh Robertson (38pts) while Val Pate (36pts) was r/up. Gillian Holst (38pts) was the Div 2 winner over Jenifer Moody (37pts) while Irene Williams (36pts c/b) was the best in Division 3 who scraped in ahead of Lyn Bartley (36pts).

The NTP winners were: Flots and Jets 3rd – Kathy Parker; Valley Finance 3rd (2nd) – Lynne Eke; Peter Campbell Physio 9th (2nd) – Janelle Carpenter; Kitchen to Table 10th – Jennifer Fagan; Amie Rose Beauty 12th – Jennifer Fagan; Nicholson’s Fine Foods 17th – Jenny Muir and Yamba Pharmacy 17th (2nd) – Maiva Burnham. Balls were awarded to 35 pts c/b.

No competition was held last Saturday morning due to the wild, wet weather.

Next week, Yamba Ladies Golf will welcome over 100 ladies from NSW and QLD to our beautiful course for our annual Three-Day Westlawn October Tournament. Monday will be a Foursomes format followed by Stroke and Stableford rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday. Golf will be followed on Monday with a fashion parade held on The Deck and on Tuesday by the dinner, concert and dancing. Good luck to all who are involved.

Congratulations to this week’s winners.
