Yamba girls do it again!

Fresh from their success as part of the winning State Pennant sides at Bombaderry last month – Lois Duncan, Julie Coulter and Wendy Ballantyne then turned their attention to contesting the Regional Triples Playoffs at Ballina last Thursday December 8.

Again, displaying their current great form against the team from Coffs- Ex representing the Mid-North Coast it was victory again in the morning semi-final game – cruising home with a 32-18 win and a place in the afternoon’s final.

It was a very hard-fought game against the Pottsville team representing Tweed/Byron District – and despite managing to get ahead by a couple of shots through the game it was Pottsville who prevailed and won their place in the State Finals with a 32-26 win, and it was a very well-earned runners-up title for our Yamba team. Well done girls!

Last week of bowls for this year coming up for many of our ladies, contesting the Shirley Drum Triples. So, it’s a big thank-you to those members who put so much of their time into keeping the Club operating smoothly.

Not forgetting the executive and committee who held the fort before amalgamation with the main club and then to those who took over the reins as we said our farewell to Yamba Women’s Bowling Club and moved into the unification with Yamba Bowling Club – some very challenging times and well-met by our new administration. Also thanks must go to those who supported us throughout the year – our umpires, controlling bodies, greenkeepers, the Club administrators and staff and those volunteers who kept our competitions running smoothly.

It could be said that thanks to all of these folks Yamba Bowling Club has a reputation now state-wide of being an excellent host venue not aside from the wonderful facilities we have to offer.

So, it’s very Merry Christmas to all our members and wishing you all good health and good bowling for the coming year. Hope to see many of you at the Christmas Party wrap-up on December 17 (12.30pm).

And don’t forget some of our hardy selectors will be keeping you on the greens throughout the holiday season by running mixed bowls commencing on Tuesday December 27 and continuing every Tuesday and Thursday until January 31.
