The tables were set, the lights on and in we walked to a wonderful display of memorabilia from WWI and II. Red poppies filled the walls as a sign of remembrance for all who have fallen. Many snippets of history filled two tables to tell the story of family members that served. All very interesting and poignant as ANZAC Day approaches. New members and guest were welcomed and a general meeting was held with all current business discussed. We had two presentations, Pat De Bomford for her 10 year badge from Gwen Dowling and new member Dianne Price presented her membership badge by Vice President Pat as President Lyn is away enjoying a wonderful trip. Welcome Dianne and Pat, we thank you for your years of dedication. Lucky door prize won by Margaret Cohen, raffles won by Pam Connelly and Marie Rhineburger. Then on to our speaker Peter Nicholson from Nicholson Fine Foods. A very interesting talk starting with Peter describing his life before Yamba. We shared in some of his experiences, starting out as an apprentice chief working in a large kitchen with all the different ranks and stations, through to executive chef. His love of food from his grandmother and mother obviously attributable to his choice of profession which has taken him around the world and to settle eventually in Yamba, where a new chapter with food has continued. Next luncheon meeting will be held on Monday May 16 at The Yamba Bowling Club. We will celebrate Mother’s Day with a Polynesia theme. So find those grass skirts ladies.
