Yamba Basketball’s Junior Prawn Bowl this weekend

The Yamba Trawlers Basketball will finish the pre-season basketball tournaments “The Prawn Bowl” this weekend with all junior basketballers on the North Coast making their way to the Raymond Laurie Sports Centre for a fun weekend. With 20 teams nominated for the Junior Prawn Bowl, Yamba Basketball is excited at hosting up to 200 young athletes competing in the under 10’s, under 12’s and under 14 age groups over this weekend in Yamba. The Junior Prawn Bowl is a concept to allow all our local junior players that don’t always get the chance to play representative basketball have a fun weekend in the Yamba Trawlers colours playing some excellent competition. Along with the players development, the Yamba Trawlers also focus on developing young referees and parents who can help with scoring the games. All Yamba teams have been training well for the carnival and look forward to playing Lismore, Byron Bay, Coffs Harbor and Bellingen. Any local players interested in suiting up for the Trawlers in carnivals, or anytime through the year are encouraged to come along to the Raymond Laurie Sports Centre. Development Officer Steve Smith runs training sessions for players based in the Lower Clarence Valley region on a Tuesday afternoon at the Raymond Laurie Sports Centre from 3:30-4:20 (ages 4-7) and 4:30-5:20 (ages 8-12). Along with a competition on Friday afternoons for all ages. Kindergarten to High School students. The Trawlers are also now taking teams for their huge winter competition in both Junior and seniors.
