Variety Club of NSW charity golf day at Maclean

Expertly run by club Pro Paul King and his wife Wendy, players and carts dispersed to all parts of the course for shotgun start. The course was bursting at the seams, but the pace of play was excellent and the solidity of purpose of fun and friendship came to the fore.

With some golfers venturing out for a rare game and some interesting mixed ability groups, it was no surprise that Team Rod Ellis (again) took out the major Ambrose prize.

His playing partners of Jean Ellis and the Pedrana’s on this occasion were the prime movers, leaving Rod a willing bystander.

In the non-handicap competition, the Mackenzie’s’ and the Toms’, rather gave away their novice status with probably the best dressed players Maclean has seen this year and won their competition by three clear shots.

Thanks to prize donations from our generous sponsors, the entry fees and the large sums raised by auction meant it was true bumper day and the tireless volunteers from Variety would have gone home happy with the amount raised.
