Under 18’s music competition into 2nd heat

Last weekend saw a fantastic turn out for the U/18 music competition held at the Raymond Laurie Sport centre at Yamba. The winners, who will be announced at the finals on September 12 will taking on the busking positions at the Surf the Coldstream Festival on October 17. There is another heat next week Saturday from 10am to 12 noon. Saturday’s first heat was a success, there were four performers and an audience of over 50, who came to show support for the first music event of this kind, focusing on the young musicians of the town. After the success of the first heat we will be expecting a bigger crowd for heat two, and definitely for the finals where all of the artists perform a few songs before the winners are announced. The best thing about performing in front of an audience is that it gives the performers the experience they need to overcome any fears they may have. The crowd also get to vote for their favourite on the days of the heats and again on the finals. The voting will also be taken to Facebook and the social media exposure, with likes and shares also added onto the crowd favourite votes. After heat two, a song from each performer will be loaded to the U/18 music competition Facebook page and the general public are encouraged to like and share their favourites. This will add a significant amount of votes to each artist and help them to win crowd favourite. Our prize pool for the winners is fantastic and we are still sourcing more sponsors for prizes. We would love the opportunity to help everyone further their musical career. You can contact Mallika on 0403 208 729 for more information, otherwise please come along to the next heat and the finals, help these events become a regular experience for all young performers to have.
