The pristine serenity of Yamba and its surrounding communities attracted large numbers of visitors to the region during the summer holidays.

With plenty of sunshine and seasonal spirit in the air, families embraced the opportunity to relax and unwind as they packed up their beach towels, sunscreen, and umbrellas and went in search of the most picturesque locations along the Clarence Valley coastline.

Melbourne visitors Francesca and Raphael Sousa told the Clarence Valley Independent they were lucky enough to stumble upon a handful of peaceful and private hideaways along the beaches and rivers in Wooli, Iluka, and Yamba during their recent holiday.

As they complimented the natural beauty of the region, the couple also revealed they had recommended “a few special spots” to their friends who are currently searching for an outdoor wedding venue.

“We’ve never been to the Clarence Valley before, but we were completely wowed by how amazing it all is,” they said.

“We loved spending time in Wooli and Diggers Camp so much, we even told some of our friends who are getting married this year that a lot of the local beaches up here are great places to host weddings.

“The people who live here are also really friendly, and we were made to feel welcome by everyone we met.”

Sunshine Coast residents Sari Marsden, her partner Joao Silva, and their two children celebrated their fifth Christmas together in the Clarence Valley.

Describing Yamba as the perfect holiday destination, the couple agreed its family friendly ambience, scenic beaches, and its wonderful variety of boutique stores, cafes, and eateries make it one of their favourite places to visit in the world.

“Joao and I first came to Yamba in 2013 before our kids were born, and we fell in love with it within a day,” Ms Marsden said.

“It’s been our annual Christmas and summer holiday destination since 2016.

“Sadly, the Covid-19 pandemic prevented us from spending a few previous Christmases here, but we were all so pumped to come back in 2022.”

“Main Beach and Pippi Beach in Yamba are among the best beaches in the world, and the surf here is exceptional,” Mr Silva added.

“It’s such a beautiful place, and even though we’ve travelled to many different countries, there’s just something magical about Yamba that keeps calling us back.

“We’re heading back to the Sunshine Coast in mid-January, but we’re already planning our Christmas holiday in Yamba for 2023.”
