Three generations of Hurleys’ take on the Hurluka Cup

Jim and Clare Hurley and Brown and Hurley were the proud sponsors of the 11th Hurluka Cup held at Iluka Golf Course. The weather was just perfect and two shotgun starts were needed for a large field that enjoyed the hospitality of the sponsors before hitting off in the Medley Single Stableford event with results as follows: Overall winner: Tony Hurley 41pts; Mens’: Kane Hurley 40pts on c/b; Ladies: Brenda Kay 36pts; Mens’ r/up: Kevin Hayes 40pts; Ladies’ r/up: Sue Burgess 33pts on c/b; Overall runners up 1st: Geoffrey Prentice 39pts on c/b, 2nd: Peter Whitton 39pts on c/b, 3rd: Dallas Morrow 39pts, 4th: Garry Freeman 38pts, 5th: Max Hill 37pts on c/b, 6th: Barry Mitchell 37pts on c/b, 7th: Barry Arnold 37pts on c/b, 8th: John Speirs 37pts on c/b, 9th: Paul Ramon 37pts, 10th: Robert Lyons 36pts on c/b, 11th: John Coster 36pts on c/b, 12th: James Wride 36pts. NTP’s: 1/10 Geoffrey Prentice; Laurice Poore 6/15 Tony Hurley; Sandi Mayoh 8/17 Geoffrey Prentice; Dianne Grieve. The number and quality of prizes was just fantastic and we give a big thank you to Clare for purchasing the prizes and all the other things she does in organising the event. Jim and Clare were very proud that the second and third generations of Hurleys’, being son Tony and Grandson Kane were major winners (Tony has now won the Cup two years in a row), the first generation being Jim Hurley didn’t score as well as usual but was certainly proud as punch. The major raffle a Cummins Racing Jacket signed by Leigh Holdsworth and Dean Canter was won by Dallas Morrow. Thank you to all the visitors that travelled long distances to play in the event and thank you to staff and volunteers that had the golf course in picture perfect condition. This event earns excellent funds for the Iluka Golf Club. Last but not least all participants enjoyed a great game of golf & heaps of friendship. Adam Cazalet
