The physical benefit of dance

Physical activity and exercise are vital for a child’s development and lays the foundation for a healthy and active life.

Dancing is a great way for children to participate in physical activity. There are many positives for children participating in dance. Dance is a great way for children to gain greater self-confidence, build social strength, increase fitness, build stronger teamwork, improve listening and discipline, improved posture and range of motion, perseverance and improved learning skills. Dancing also promotes growth.

There are many different types of dance including ballet, jazz, hip hop, character, contemporary, modern, lyrical and tap.

The NSW Government is helping kids get active with the Active Kids program. The Active Kids program provides two $100 vouchers for parents, guardians and carers of school-enrolled children to use towards sport and active recreation costs each year.
