Tana Lowe is the new Yamba ladies’ Champion

The Yamba ladies were certainly blessed with perfect weather and excellent course conditions for the duration of the 72-hole 2023 Ladies’ Championships.

Some excellent golf was played by the ladies especially in the latter stages of the competition. It was local teenage star, Tana Lowe (GA 8.4), who came through as Club Champion to beat last year’s Champion, Fiona Smart, after four solid gross scores of 90, 83, 88 and 83. Tana’s journey as a golfer over the past five years has been a pleasure to witness. Her mature and respectful approach both on and off the course is a credit to both Tana and anyone who has been associated with her development as a player. There is no doubt she is a worthy recipient.

Following Tana in A Grade was the gross r/up, Fiona Smart (365) while the nett winner, Janette Blair (316), edged out Kathy Parker (317) in a tight result.

Glen Czarnota (413) held her nerve to win B Grade Champion ahead of gross r/up, Lyn Rowland (420). Lisa Marsh (310) has had an amazing year of golf and was rewarded as nett winner ahead of Gail Scobie (314 c/b).

Robyn Brockwell (444) was named C Grade Champion, pipping the gross r/up, Sandra Russo (452). The nett winner was Ann Schuhmacher (321) who was followed closely by the nett r/up, Sue Wilson (322).

Aside from congratulations to the listed winners, acknowledgement must go to the many ladies who played over the four rounds to make this prestigious event such a success.

Thanks to the Yamba Golf & Country Club’s greens staff, the course has been in exemplary condition for the duration of the 2023 Championships. Members agree the course has never looked better.
