Taking DA’s seriously

Ed,

As reported by Rodney Stevens in your paper (CVI 12/10/22), three DAs (in Glenreagh, Maclean and Yamba) ended their public exhibition period last week at 4pm on Friday afternoon.

I’m sure I’m not the only one to think that a more customer-focused council would have ended the period for comment at 8:30am on Monday morning rather than Friday afternoon. This extension in time would have had no impact on Council’s ability to deliver the development consent within statutory timeframes as I doubt a staff member was paid overtime to review the submissions over the weekend.

For those of us who work Monday to Friday, we only have the weekends available to review the DAs and make comments.

In my mind, closing the period for comment at 4pm on a Friday implies that Clarence Valley Council is not taking public consultation on development applications seriously.
