Take a row on the wild side

Grafton Rowing Club’s annual ‘Rowathon’ in aid of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter will this year be held on Saturday June 29 around both Susan and Elizabeth Islands.

Competitors have a choice of either 10 kilometres starting from the rowing clubhouse at the foot of Prince Street and travelling around Susan Island, returning to the shed, or 20 kilometres, around both Susan and then continuing on and around Elizabeth Island before returning to the shed.

This event is open to all paddle powered water craft: rowing sculls, dragon boats, kayaks, canoes etc.

Cost of the row is $20, which includes a barbecue lunch on return. The barbecue is also available to support crew at a cost of $7.

A limited number of Grafton Rowing Club boats are available for hire if required.

Compulsory briefing is at 8am, with the first boat away at 8.30.

Nominations close Monday June 17.
